Mary Maclean  b. 1962 UK Bath Academy of Art Foundation Studies Glasgow School of Art Painting Department Rijksakademie Amsterdam Postgraduate Studies Royal College of Art MA Painting The photographic works are large scale; the subtly reflective surface of the metal on which the image is captured absorbs the differences of light and colour of the surrounding space, introducing a sense of movement into the experience of the work. Architectural fragments and the arrangement of objects are captured in a single slow exposure. The images are worked onto large aluminium surfaces so the image and metal are meshed in a space. In confronting the photograph, the viewer is fleetingly reflected in the surface of the work, implicated and reimagined back into its space.
