In his recent paintings the relief surface is formed from a particle substance that operates initially as a fluid. He orchestrates events engaging the natural behaviour of matter. Forces applied, in one way or another set up frequencies that result in recognisable figural elements and natural phenomena. Dramatic, urgent rhythms suggest extreme agitation yet the surface is nearly smooth, an illusion of action held as a frozen moment. Passionate encounters involving remembered concatenations of form provoke a halt to the stalking and the image is caught, held at that fragile moment on the edge of order, beyond the random meandering of 'dust'. |
